St Mark’s in London is widely recognised as the UK’s national bowel hospital – a centre of excellence for complex, and rare, bowel diseases, which treats both local and referred patients. It is also committed to excellence in research to improve patients’ lives.
The most important impact of St Mark’s work is the difference it makes for patients, in both survival outcomes and quality of life. The Foundation has a critical role to play in this by:
- Funding discovery and translational research with the potential to achieve better outcomes for patients, faster.
- Supporting colorectal education via St Mark’s Academic Institute to help improve standards of care.
- Investing in specialist equipment and advanced technologies which optimise how patients are diagnosed and treated.
However, without our supporters, our ability to do this would be significantly impacted; philanthropy is often the difference in maintaining a high margin of excellence in healthcare.
