Huge numbers of exciting Community & Challenge events are held around the year to raise money for cutting-edge research & education at St Mark's.

Manchester Half

Date: 12th October 2025
Minimum Age: 17
This popular half marathon sees runners take on generous, closed roads across the towns of Old Trafford, Stretford & Brooklands, with the promise of great support and an abundance of entertainment en route. The Manchester Half Marathon hosts a very flat course, perfect for smashing personal bests but also the ideal route for those new to half marathons and charity runners. There is a lovely 2-mile flat finish that brings you to the conclusion of the event at Emirates Old Trafford Lancashire County Cricket Club.

Yorkshire Marathon

Date: 19th Oct 2025
Minimum Age: 18
Whether you’re aiming to smash your PB or just looking to cross the finish line, the Yorkshire Marathon is the perfect experience for beginners and experienced athletes alike.

Hampton Court Palace 10k

Date: 19th Oct 2025
Minimum Age: 15
Run yourself into the history books with the return of The Hampton Court Palace 10K! Starting and finishing inside the palace grounds – this iconic course takes you out along The Barge Walk and back through Home Park.

Inflatable 5k Windsor

Get ready to bounce your way through The World’s BIGGEST and most EPIC Inflatable 5K Obstacle Course!

Maidenhead Half Marathon

Date: 26th Oct 2025
Minimum Age: 17
The Maidenhead Half Marathon follows a notoriously flat and fast course providing the perfect opportunity to a personal best race. The Maidenhead half starting at the Moors follows a fully road closed, 2 lap course with a mixture of town centre and scenic countryside areas along the route. This varied course is perfect for spectators to come along and cheer you into the finish.

Virtual Halloween Run

The Virtual Halloween Run – The Virtual Marathon Series presents the Virtual Halloween Run available to all abilities this spooky virtual is a great deal of fun. Take this 5K challenge on before or on Halloween. Do it in your running gear or a spooky character from your favourite movie scene! Trick or treat for the kids this year might get the red flag but why not do your own healthy version with a medal and goodie bag.

Run Heaton Park

Date: 07th Dec 2025
Minimum Age: 15
This large park, just north of Manchester and home to a Grade 1 listed neoclassical 18th-century house, is the perfect setting for a fun day out. Running on the paths within Heaton Park, this race is a great opportunity for a chip timed personal best. There will be refreshments and a fantastic themed Heaton Park medal.

Chase the Moon Battersea 10k

Date: 17th Dec 2025
Minimum Age: 15
Battersea Park is one of London’s most picturesque parks and has been a favourite course for those wanting to run a PB! The course is totally flat, offering the perfect opportunity to push yourself to a personal best. Starting and finishing at the Parks Bandstand this course laps the park making it easy to follow and great for any spectators to catch you flying round the course.

Virtual Santa Dash 

Date: 25th Dec 2025
Minimum Age: 4
The Virtual Santa Dash is brought to you by the Virtual Marathon Series and is a fun 5K run to be done with friends and family or competitively on your own. Take this 5K challenge on anytime between now and the 25th of December. Do it in your running gear alone or dressed as Christmas elves with the family! Earn the official Santa Dash Medal and goodie bag.

St Mark’s Hospital Foundation has partnered with the Run for Charity which offers a variety of incredible fundraising events across the UK, simply:

  • Browse the Run for Charity website for an event that is of interest.
  • Register for the event, selecting Health and Medical – Other as the charity category and St Mark’s Hospital Foundation as the charity.
